InComm Gifts of Service is an initiative created to support InComm’s core values of passion, engagement and teamwork. Gifts of Service returns to Partner Alliance for a third year to give back to the Denver community with a towel drive benefiting SafeHouse Denver, a shelter for survivors of domestic violence and their children.
Gifts of Service
Donated towels will be included in welcome bags offered when individuals arrive at the shelter. Most victims of domestic violence flee their abusers with little notice, therefore arriving with scarcely more than the clothes on their back.
SafeHouse Denver believes that home should be a place where people feel safe, respected and loved. Unfortunately, statistics show that more than one in three women have experienced rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime. Nationwide, an average of three women are killed by a current or former intimate partner every day, while men exposed to physical abuse, sexual abuse and/or domestic violence as children are almost four times more likely to perpetrate domestic violence as adults.
Established in 1977, SafeHouse Denver is the only agency in the City and County of Denver that provides both emergency shelter and non-residential counseling and advocacy services to adults, children and youth experiencing intimate partner violence.
SafeHouse began as a 16-bed shelter providing a safe place for women and their children. Today, SafeHouse Denver’s shelter has 30 beds plus cribs, serving more than 250 adults and children in a typical year. In addition, SafeHouse serves hundreds more adults, children and youth through non-residential services. More than just keeping survivors safe, SafeHouse services include individual counseling, advocacy support groups and referrals to other services.
